right-clicking hangs XP Pro

Whenever I right click a drive in My Computer (i.e. hard
drive, CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, floppy), XP Pro hangs before a
drop-down menu appears.

Everything else works fine. I have all updates for XP
except SP-1.

System Specs:
processor .... AMD Duron 750MHz
RAM .......... 416MB SDRAM
HDD1 ......... 8.4 GB
HDD2 ......... 40 GB
CD1 .......... 32x12x40 CD-RW
CD2 .......... 40 DVD-ROM
 
this is a problem that microsoft has no solution too. or
won't fix.eventually your explorer might start to crash due
to internet explorer updates.
