system restore can hang up if the disk space runs low. to fix, turn off
system restore (my comp | prop | sys restore tab | check "turn off sr on
all drives"). This will wipe out _ALL_ saved restore points.
then clean up your disks to remove temp junk (use Disk Cleanup tool).
then go back into the above prop box and setup sys restore "drive
settings" parameters. select each disk in turn and click "settings"
button. Set "disk space to use" to a reasonable value; 0.5 to 1.0 gig is
PLENTY of space (XP defaults to 12%, which is usually way more than a gig,
a waste IMHO). If the disk letter in question isn't that important to you
then leave SR off for that disk. (Remember, SR monitors and makes restore
points for SYSTEM FILES only; it won't do any good to have it monitor a
disk that's got all your MP3s).
Finally turn SR back on w/ the new settings. It should activate, and the
drive's status should change to "monitoring".
