Right click weirdness....

Recently upgraded system from ME to XP Home. If I right click on an empty
area of the desktop (like to call up the properties menu) the cursor changes
to an hourglass, and the system goes unresponsive. If you open the My
Documents folder, and click on "create new folder" same thing happens. Can't
do anything else while this is going on, have waited for up to two min, no
responce. Only way to break out of this is to ctrl-alt-del and logoff user.
If you right click an icon or folder, I get the contextual menu, all works
fine. If I right click in the backgroud of any folder, it behaves the same as
if I right clicked on an empty spot on the desktop, and hangs.
It really difficult to create a new folder on this system!
Any ideas appreciated!

Depends, Jack......start here:

Run Ad-Aware SE, Spybot, CWShredder and HijackThis:
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html

Note: Update the first two programs, once installed, before running.

If any third party program desktop enhancers have been installed:

See line 285 (right hand side), if this isn't the case, run line 157:

Appreciate the responces! Tried all suggestions, no difference.
Wiped the drive, put a Win98 base install on it, then loaded XP
Home. All problems now gone, system works great!
Thanx again for your suggestions.
