Right-click takes ages for context menu

dkb

When I am in a folder and do Ctrl+A, selection of all takes in flash.
While all is under selection, Right-click takes ages to come up with the
context menu. Sometimes the hour-glass goes on displaying for ages and
upon closing I get the error"the program does not respond".
Virus scanned, defragmented and spy ware check gave no results of having
spy ware in my pc.
Please guide as to how I could do aways with this problem.

How many files are in the folder?

A number of files more than 100 and some are folders within this folder.
Previously it would not take that much time with the same number of
files. I have 1GB RAM.

Yes this has helped. Thanks for your guidance.

I used ShellExView v1.14 and straightway disabled all the context menu
items shown therein. Rebooted and then the right-click was not slow at
all and the items in the context menu were a few now. Now the first
thing I wanted to do was to enable Ninotech Path Copy Shell extension.By
this I reached back to square one. So I again disabled it. I have been
using it for a number of months but without this problem. This gives me
to consider that some other(s) in presence of this "Ninotech Path Copy
Shell extension" are slowing the thing.

I will have to do a lot of permutation and combination to arrive for a
solution that will keep the Ninotech Path Copy Shell extension enabled.

I have also observed that there are two 'Preview" items (though not
contiguous) in the Context menu when I right-clicking on a Picture
Icon?Is it not redundant?
