Right click Start - how to modify menu

When I right click the Start button, a small menu appears. In addition to
things like Open, Explore, Properties, there are other things that have
appeared which were never there before. For example, CD/DVD editing software
(PowerISO).

How do these things get added?

What does it mean when they are there?

How can I delete some of them if I so choose?

What happens to the functionality of those items that I delete from the
Start menu?

Thanks.

PowerISO added the entry. There is probably one from your AV also.

That you can use the those commands.

Start button context menu is what you're talking about. The commands can no
longer be used from the Start button context menu. Those commands also
appear in most right click context menus and on File menus in folders.
How can I delete some of them if I so choose?

Wesley, thanks for the explanation and for providing the links. I was able
to remove the entries that I no longer wanted, and I learned quite a bit
about context menus.

Thanks again.
