You could try to determine the cause of the error message by opening
Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc), looking in the Application Log for
Source: MsiInstaller - Warning Messages (Event numbers 1001 and 1004),
double-clicking the Event and reading the Description.

And if you need more details, you can set Windows Installer Logging to
verbose. For more information see the following Microsoft Knowledge
Base article:

KB314852 - How to Enable Windows Installer Logging in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?Product=winxp&scid=kb;en-us;314852

Then once you find out what application is calling the Installer I
suggest you try to find a newsgroup devoted to that product and post
in that newsgroup. And please include the exact error messages and
any relevant information found in Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc). Note:
To copy the details of an event click the Copy button, then paste it
in your newsgroup post. To find the appropriate newsgroup:

If you read the newsgroups using the Microsoft Communities Web Page,
IMHO the easiest way to find an appropriate newsgroup is to use Google
Groups Advanced Search. That is, open your browser to the Groups
Advanced Search Web Site. In the "with the exact phrase" box enter an
exact phrase. In the "Return only messages from the newsgroup" box
enter microsoft.public.* Then click the "Google Search" button. When
the results page pops up the very first entry will be "Related
groups:" Determine from this list which group sounds most appropriate
then go to the Microsoft Communities Home Page and try to find the
group. If you need help finding the group out of the hierarchy of
newsgroups found in the left-panel of the Communities Home page post
back with the information and I will try to help.

Google Groups Advanced Search

Microsoft Communities Home Page
http://communities2.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx

If you read newsgroups using a NNTP newsreader, such as Outlook
Express, search its Help for "find newsgroups of interest" or
something similar.
