Right click no longer works on any web site

I've been having trouble recently when right-clicking on internet explorer.
On any links in any websites, the list of options when right-clicking no
longer appears and this happens only with internet explorer.

I'm currently using Internet Explorer 6 SP1
Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated.

Does right click work in other programs?
Does right click work if you click an image instead of a link?

Right click actually works in all other programs, except internet explorer.
Thus it does not work either on an image.

Try (as a diagnostic) disabling all third-party extensions
and disallowing scripting.

I guess this is done in the menu Tools--> Internet Options and then on the
Advanced tab... I removed the check on "Enable third-party browser
extensions" while the two boxes for "Disable script debugging" were already
checked.

Should i do something else because even after those operations, right-click
still doesn't work.

Not really. Notice that you have to restart IE for the option to take effect.
E.g. the article specifically suggests you use the Control Panel applet
after closing all IE windows. In fact, even that may not be sufficient because
what is really required is that there be a period of time when there are no
running instances of iexplore.exe after the the option is unchecked.
E.g. just closing "all instances of Internet Explorer" is not sufficient if that
only results in no obvious instances of IE windows but some instances of
iexplore.exe remaining to be seen in Task Manager's Processes tab.

Should i do something else because even after those operations,
right-click still doesn't work.

You disable scripting using a Security tab Custom Level... option.
Alternatively you could change the security level for the current zone
to High. E.g. doubleclick on the security zone icon in the IE Status bar
and then press Alt-D, Alt-L, CursorUp and Enter.

You have neglected to disclose your OS and version.
However, I suspect that since you are only using IE6sp1
that you may not be using XP. In that case you could try
an IE Repair (ref. KB194177.)

Good luck

Thanks a lot for the advice, but now since I removed the check on "Enable
third-party browser extensions" via Internet Explorer itself, I can no longer
enable it even via the Control Panel applet. When I do OK or APPLY, my mouse
cursor remains busy forever and the program goes into Not Responding.

Anyway, up to now, my right click still does not work. Is there any other
way? Or else would a reinstallation of Internet Explorer be worthwhile?
