Right Click menu is slow

Have XP Pro installed. Plenty of hard drive space,
plenty of Ram. Nothing excessive running in the back
round. No newly installed progams.
Checked for spyware, browswer hijacks, trojans and virii
and all is clean.
All MS updates are installed.
No apparent problems elsewhere other than the following.
Approx. 2 - 3 weeks ago when I right click on a folder,
any folder in My Computer, it takes 10+ seconds for the
menu to appear.
It is a sparadic problem at this point. XP has been
installed on this system now for approx. 2+ years.
I did do a search and found something pertaining to an
out of date or expired verisign certificate mentioned and
have updated that.
Any suggestions on where to look next?
Thank you,
C

Thank but that isn't it. My right click menu and sub-
menus are all the same with nothing new added to them.

Just from personal experience:

I observed similar behavior with some applications
(mostly utilities), that would add options to Right Click
menu.
See if you have anything besides base Windows options in
your context (Right Click) menu, and take it from there.

I'm just posting now for the sake of others in case they
are having this problem.
I tweaked out my services right from the git-go, and the
WIA has been disabled since the very beginning, so that's
not it. Like I said, this problem cropped up about 2
weeks ago and looking back there are only two
possibilities that I can think of. One is the recent MS
updates and the other is Norton AV's recent updates.
The problem is sparadic and right now it's working fine.
Thank you for your efforts though...it is greatly
appreciated.
