Right click hangs machine

I posted a message saying when I right click my machine,
I get an hourglass and it hangs the machine. I have read
all the posts for this yaer and tried all the
suggestions, but none worked. It seems as though I am not
alone with this problem. Here are some clues:

If I click on a file on the desktop and right click it
hangs.

If I launch IE the right click menu works.

If I hang the machine I have to log out and log back in
to have it work again.

If I log in as another user, the right click menu works.

Does the desktop have its own contextual menu, and could
there be something installed in that menu that is corrupt?

I'm having the same problem -- right clicking on the desktop causes the
hourglass to hang and nothing on the desktop responds. All other
right-click menus in other programs seem to work correctly. Opening
Task Manager will often show explorer.exe not responding.

Hope this contributes some more information so that someone can help
with this.
