My CD-RW/DVD drive produces "Event Code" 11. According
to the MS Help and Support, they have no additional
information. The drive has an I/O controller error.
However, this combo drive has worked before in this
machine. I have ALL updates installed, McAfee antivirus
running (so I do not believe a virus is the problem), and
the drive is visible in Device Manager but cannot read
media.

Any ideas please respond...thanks in advance.

I had a Ricoh CD-RW/DVD combo drive (MP9120), I was having some problems
with it in Windows. Ricoh tech support suggested that I made sure that in
the BIOS that I had NONE selected for the IDE channel that the device was
connectied to (ie. Secondary Master). After doing that and upgrading the
firmware on that drive to version 1.30, it seemed to work much better.
Maybe you could try those suggestions and see if they help at all.
