Rewind/loop all animations on a slide.

Our company needs to include a looping intro slide for our presentation that
is intended to be played as people are being seated before the presentation
begins.

Right now the slide includes a series of animations about the company that
takes about 1 minute to play through. The problem is that after the
animations finish the slide becomes static. We need the slide to
continuously rewind and replay all the animations (in the same order and with
the same time delays) like it did the first time.

I have tried using "Repeat Until Next Click /End of Slide" but the problem
is that it won't include the initial time delay when it repeats the
animation.

For example, we have an image that is supposed to appear 10 sec. after the
slide show begins, show itself for 5 seconds, and then dissapear until the
end of the slide (45 seconds later). If I click "repeat..." it will appear
after 10 seconds (no problem there), but then it will continuously fade in
and out, again and again forever.

Of course it would be perfect if I could program an animation like this:

Delay: 10sec.
FADE IN
Show: 5sec.
FADE OUT
Stay hidden: 45 sec.
REPEAT

But I doubt that is an option. Instead, I am loking for a way to rewind the
slide after it has played through all the animations once. Also, this needs
to happen automatically. There cannot be any buttons or links that the user
has to press in order to make this happen because they will not be monitoring
the presentation while the intro is playing. The intro simply needs to loop,
and then advance to the next slide (Agenda slide) when the audience is ready
and the user makes their first click.

Thanks!! I will be checking on this thread constantly tonight in case you

art.

//Also, this might be something to consider: I've noticed another problem
with rewinding PowerPoint animations... and that is that if you view a slide
within a presentation, and then hyperlink back to it at a later time, the
animations will not play again. Instead it will look just how you left it
after watching it the first time... which really sucks that you don't have
the option to rerun the slide.

Also, the "Loop show Continuously until 'Esc" in the Setup Show menu is not
an option. To use this method, I have to create two PowerPoint files... one
..ppt file for the intro, and another .ppt for the rest of the presentation
(with a hyperlink on the intro that opens the other .ppt).

It is important that the presentation remains as one file.

What about using a custom show? Create one custom show that contains only
the first slide (Slide Show --> Custom Show). Set it to be the default show
and to loop continuously. Now add a button to the slide that links to the
first slide in the rest of the show. When you are done with the
introduction, click the link and you can go on from there.

Thanks Kathy! This just might work.

The only issue I have with this is that since the presentation is going to
be used by people who only know the basics of powerpoint.. they will always
start the show by clicking the Icon or by Slide Show> View Show. (no matter
what you tell them.. they will forget!)

This is a problem because if you start the show this way it ignores all the
custom shows I set up within the presentation. Is there a way to launch the
Custom Intro show when I click the usual buttons? Or can you only start a
Custom Show
by launching through the custom show menu?

I figured it out Kathy. I have to go to Set up Show and only show the slides
from the Intro first. Then when the users start the show the normal way, it
will launch only the custom Intro slide show.

Great.

Now my problem is that they might just click anywhere on the screen during
the Intro and inadvertantly end the show. I know I can set up a hyperlink
that joins the Intro to the Main presentation... but even if I use the entire
background as a hyperlink, the user still has to wiggle their mous around
until they see a finger, and then click the background to advance to the Main
show. If they just click while the Intro is looping, then it will end the
show on them!

I noticed that when hyperlinking between custom shows you can make the last
slide of a custom show reutrn you to your original place. Awsome. Is there
a way to make the custom Intro show advance automatically to the Main show
like that too?? I can't use hyperlinks... not to start with.
