Review option settings are lost in Word 2007

Hi

I have tracking on in Word 2007 with the view set to "Final Showing
Markup". Each time I open the same document all the the "Show Markup"
options are on even though I've turned them all off except for
"Comment". I'm pretty sure these settings were saved with the document
in Word 2002. This is a constant source of frustration and lost time,
especially when I need to review many documents and reset the options
one by one.

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Thanks and lot's of good cheer.

Elliot

It's an improvement in 2007 to ensure that you don't accidentally send
out a document with (potentially embarrassing) corrections and
comments to people you don't want to see them.

Actually, the "improvement" was made several versions back. You can (attempt
to) disable it through Word's Options settings, but many users report that
this isn't successful.

Won't this do exactly the opposite since when the document is opened
all corrections etc are visible?

I just saw your second post with "improvement" in quotes. Thanks again
to everyone at Microsoft for the aggravation and for making it
difficult if not impossible to turn these options off.

Anyway, thank you for the clarifications.

It's reminding you to Accept All Changes before you let anyone else
see it.

Would you rather send it to someone without realizing they were
getting the commented version, and then they happen to turn on Show
Markup -- perhaps to make their own changes -- and see something they
shouldn't?
