Reverting Display Properties

My user has updated the Display Properties in the Settings and changed the
Color Qaulity to 32 bit.

Now the LCD monitor displays a message of "Out of range" with a black
background How do I fix it? How do I revert back to the previous settings?

Yes, I have shutdown and restarted the computer but after the Windows XP logo
screen, the "Out of Range" message is displayed.
