Reversing Default Email - Something Supid, I Suppose

C

Captain

In my haste while updating Windows Live Essentials, I inadvertently selected
“Windows Live Mail†as my default email program. Before this update, I was
successfully using my Verizon account via Windows Live Mail to access all of
my personal and business email accounts, both sending and receiving, as they
all were listed in the email program. There was also my set of storage
folders, which were converted to Windows Live Mail "Local Folders," I
suppose. Now, after the update, all of my email accounts no longer exist.
The only things listed are my "Local Folders" and “Microsoft Communities.â€
When I go into “Tools†on the menu bar, and “Accounts,†the only Account
listed under “Mail†is “incoming.verizon.net (default)†and none other. Not
even the Windows Live Mail account shows up there. Is there a way to get all
my accounts back? They were: the (e-mail address removed); (e-mail address removed);
(e-mail address removed); (e-mail address removed); (e-mail address removed);
and a couple others. From this “updated†Windows Live Mail, I can’t send or
receive from any of these email addresses. Mail continues to come in, but I
suppose those are mail sent only to the "incoming.verizon.net (POP3)" server.
Any insights from anyone on this site that would be helpful to this issue?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. At this point, I’m essentially
“dead-in-the-water†with my personal email and my business email. Perhaps
there’s some way to change the default away from Windows Live Mail? I rarely
used my Windows Live Mail since it reflected an old business, and I
understand Microsoft will not let me change my Windows Live email address.

I'm using Vista on a Dell XPS 710 pc, and ALL of the Window Live OneCare
programs.

Thanks loads,
Captain

Okay, I'm a proponent of "full-disclosure," and being open and honest,
regardless of the issue. With that, while "stupid" was the operative word,
it wasn't sufficient. Turns out I downloaded "Windows Mail" as opposed to
"Windows Live Mail." It make a difference obviously, and I'm quite
embarrassed. I subsequently downloaded Live Mail, and alas, all's well. All
emails and the Storage folder is there.

Lesson learned: Multitasking is not what it's cracked up to be . . . it
rarely works well. I know I won't be successful, but I'll try to do one
thing at a time anyway.

Windows Mail comes with the Vista OS, and is not available to download
anywhere, AFAIK...

Hmmm, it still isn't clear what you did, since Windows Mail can't be downloaded.
It only comes with the Vista OS

Good to hear that everything turned out OK..

Truely understood . . . I stand corrected and I apologize.

Perhaps I downloaded Live, and just clicked on the Windows Mail icon that
was in my task manager. I appreciate your response, even thought I
misposted, my bad.

Thanks,

Captain
