Reversing a Tweak - Not sure what I did

After making some changes to XP, every thing seems fine except for when
I open windows expIorer (and sometimes firefox ). On the first launch
of the application after a bootup, explorer takes about 20-30 seconds
to get going. The outline of the window and tool bar is visable, but
in the centre where the drive info is is blank. It sort of looks as if
the program is 'not responding', but eventually populates the window.
After this, any time windows explorer is launched, it launches in a
normal, immediate fashion.

I suppose I must of made a change to how windows gathers file info
(like prefetch), but I made a bunch of changes at once, and do not
recall messing around with any features that would be related to this
problem. I tried resetting some of the changes I made (with Tweak UI
and Tweak XP as well as a few manual tweaks) but can't seem to correct
the problem.

Any suggestions as to what function or service may not be enabled?
