Need 2 registry tweaks: windows explorer always dual pane AND windows explorer always detail view

E

Eric

I would much appreciate some assistance.

I need 2 registry tweaks that accomplish the following.

1) Windows Explorer should always launch in dual-pane mode, no matter
if it's triggered by selecting the Windows Explorer shortcut, or by
double-clicking on a drive and/or folder shortcut.

2) Windows Explorer should always be in detail view mode.

I know about getting things the way you want them and then doing the
TOOLS>FOLDER OPTIONS>VIEW>APPLY TO ALL FOLDERS thing, but this is a
company PC and they do a bunch of weird stuff and it simply doesn't
work, hence these need to be registry edits, not some other form of
tweak.

Thanks in advance, all assistance appreciated.

Hey Eric, do you mean that you want the folders to run in one instance of
explorer.exe, while the desktop runs from another?

Folder Options --> View --> [x] Launch folder windows in a separate process

Hi George,

No, I mean that whenever I use Windows Explorer, it's a dual-pane
interface (directories on the left, subdirectories and files on the
right) no matter how Windows Explorer is activated. Does that make
sense?

Thanks,
Eric

Hello Eric, do You mean the folder tree view?
Modify the shortcut in Start Menu, All Programs, Accessories - Windows
Explorer - properties. Try some of these:
explorer.exe /e
explorer.exe /e,
explorer.exe /e, c:\windows
explorer.exe /e, %homedrive%%homepath%\Desktop

Don't use the My Computer icon, instead copy that shortcut to a convenient
place and use it.
