Reveal Codes

Does Word Perfect, which I guess would now be Novell, own a patent on
"Reveal Codes"? I've been waiting years and years for Microsoft to
implement such a feature into Word and have yet to see it.

Thank you,

I am only familiar with Word 2003. Is "Reveal Codes" the same as or similar
to "Reveal Formatting" in Word 2003?

You'll have a longer wait because Word doesn't use codes. It formats using
styles.

Hi Sean

I know exactly what you mean I've been using MS Word and Corel WordPerfect
for the past 10 12 years and reveal codes is a god send.

There is a 3rd party piece of software that will add the reveal codes
functionality to MS Word and it rocks, simply do a Google search for
CrossEyes.

Hope this helps

Unfortunately, no; it's not the same. Reveal codes was a lot like "View
Source" on an HTML document in that you could see "tags" (not sure if
that's what Word Perfect called it) which "turned on or off" a
particular style. It would be a great way to correct the styles when
Word tries to be smarter than you.

I was under the impression that Microsoft was going to integrate XML
into the entire Office suite, which could have made it possible for a
feature such as Reveal Codes. Maybe XML was implemented, but did
little, if anything, to improve upon formatting versatility.
