Hello,

A former employee deleted their e-mails before they
left. Is there any way to retrieve these e-mails?

Thanks for your time!

Debbie

In the future just a suggestion put all users PST files on
the network drive and back them up nightly.
The only thing to do is look in the deleted folder if its
not there it is likely gone.
If its really important you can try your system admin that
runs the email server to see if they have anything cached.

Were they in an Exchange mailbox? If so, your Exchange admins may be able
to recover them if the "Recover Deleted Items" option was enabled. If not,
they're surely gone.

Brian,

Thanks for responding. Actually, I do the basic System
Administrative duties here - newbie with this. Anything
I can't handle - which is a lot right now I call on
outside help.

Yes, I believe the e-mails were in an Exchange Box - we
have Windows Small Business Server 2000. Where would I
look to attempt to recover them?

Thanks for your time.

Debbie

George,

Thanks for your response. I just posted a reply to
Brian's e-mail that probably covers both yours and his.

Since this is an Exchange question now, and I don't know Exchange, I
recommend you ask the question in one of the Exchange newsgroups, like
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.exchange.admin. You should be
able to find it at the left of the page under Servers/Small Business
Server/Small Business Server (SBS):
<
http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx?NewsGroup=microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs >
or unders Servers, with the appropriate Exchange version selected:
<

Thanks Brian for your help!
