Retrieving a deleted email account - exchange emails on laptop

When I left my old company I was able to keep my laptop. All my work emails
were on my laptop and I could access them, even though I could no longer
connect to the company's exchange server.

I accidentally deleted my old company's server in my Outlook account
settings and my inbox and sent items containing all my work related
correspondance disappeared from Outlook. Is this data lost will it be
somewhere on my hard drive? If so, how do I access it? Unfortunately, I did
not create a backup of my company emails.

Do you still have a file with a .ost extension (enable searching hidden
files/folders) If yes, Open it in Outlook (File->Open->Outlook Data File.
If you can open it, copy the items to a .pst file.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All
unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without
reading.

After furious head scratching, Fred Bloggs asked:

your best bet is using system restore to recover the account - otherwise,
you won't be able to open the ost.
