Exchange blocking me out

A few months ago when i bought this laptop, I tried to hook into my former
company's exchange server to retrieve email. It didn't work, i was never
able to get it. the problem is that i can't use outlook otherwise. I can't
setup POP3 accounts, or anything else because it is still looking for the
exchange server. I've tried de-installing/reinstalling office 2007 on my
vista home premium 64 computer, but that didn't fix anything. Any
suggestions on how to turn this off.

Use the Mail Applet (32bit Control Panel) to configure the correct type of
account / connection

In addition to what DL said, when you go into the Mail applet you need to
remove the Exchange account......do all this with Outlook closed.
