retrieve .pst files

I copied my .pst and placed them on a thumbdrive. I then copied the file to
a new system. I can not locate any of my 2006 folders that were created. Is
there a way to way to search my .pst file and locate the 2006 folders.
These folders were named wit ha 2006 file name. My .pst file size was 1.9
gig.

State whether it was in Outlook 2003 format or the older format.
