retrieve old message after format PC ans setup Outlook again

Hi, all,

I appreciate if some expert can help me:

due to some software problem, I format my PC and reinstall Outlook, I have
to configue my Outlook2003 again, but when I log in, I found all my previous
email are gone. I can not remember the exact name I use, but the email
address and password are the same. there is no problem to send and receive
email.

Is there a way to retrieve them from somewhere? I did not deleted them, but
I can not find them either.

I really appreciate any advice.

my OS is MS Vista home.
 
The only place to retrieve your personal file is from a Backup copy you made
before reformatting. If you didn't actually reformat, but just reinstalled
Windows, you can open your old file in Outlook by selecting File, Open OL
Data File and selecting the old pst file from the list. You cannot open your
old file directly.

So did you save a backup copy of the .pst file before formatting?
