Outlook 2007 retrieve disc

Margaret

The outlook file disappeared. I have created a new email account and can
send but not receive. The message is "Operation failed. An object cannot
be found". I cannot open my original Outlook file to access previous saved
messages. The cover for the Outlook 2007 says that "a retrieval disc is
not included". How do I retrieve?

What do you mean "the Outlook file disappeared"?
I have created a new email account and can
send but not receive.

Why would you think that creating a new email account would solve this
problem?

The message is "Operation failed. An object cannot
be found". I cannot open my original Outlook file to access previous
saved
messages.

What does "cannot open" mean? How are you trying?

Gordon, thank u for replying.
In Outlook 2007, my original email account disappeared. I could not find
the .pst file, nor send/receive. As I had to have banking email contact, I
created a new account and I can now receive, but not send. The new Outlook
is in .pst.pst, I cannot find the old Outlook.pst. I downloaded a trail
Outlook PST repair, and the initial run with that, showed up all my original
email folders, so I purchased. However, part of the registration is
emailing back to Stella Phoenix a file they have sent. As I cannot send
from my computer, I sent a message with the file back to SP from my husband's
computer, but their blurb says that the program can only be loaded onto my
nominated computer - as I can't send it is Catch 22.

When I try to open Outlook.pst (it has an Adobe logo), the message is
"cannot open file is in use or damaged". However, even if it opened, I
don't think it is the original .pst because it is too small.

Very frustrating, and we are in outback Australia, so I cannot just go to an
expert, or I would.

Don't know if you can help, but I appreciate your reply.

That's because it's a hidden file.

The easiest answer is to set up a new mail profile (sounds like the original
may be corrupted) and add the old pst file to it.
To do this go to Control Panel-Mail-Show Profiles-Add.
When you have added the new profile, highlight it, click Properties, click
on Data Files, Add, and navigate to the default location for your version of
Windows. (It differs slightly depending on your version of Windows).
Then in the same dialog box re-add your email account to the new profile.

See if that helps.

Glad to help someone from Oz, my son is in WA shearing and has just had a
nasty accident, being burned quite badly and is being looked after very
well, so far from home! (UK)

Thank U again Gordon. I am sure the old Outlook is corrupt. However, it
did show up on the trial retrieve program I downloaded, so hopefully all is
not lost. When I go into Show Profiles, the old .pst is listed, but it
will not open. I am off to Brisbane in a day or two, so I should be able
to get an expert to assist. I operate with Vista Business.

What is puzzling is that my new email account will not send, but will receive.

Hope your son is better soon. We were in UK last October. Drove from
Lands End to John O'Goats and zig zag across - looking up all the relations'
gravesites.

Many thanks for your help.
Margaret.

Hi,

I have met the same problem some days before. I found a good tool
called Advanced Outlook
Repair. I think it is a useful repair tool for you. It is easy to
recover your PST file by using its wizard. It is a powerful tool to
recover messages, folders and other objects from corrupt or damaged
Microsoft Outlook PST files.
