How do I retrieve all of my old sent & inbox messages in Outlook?

Two days ago, I went into MS Outlook 2003; I found all of my "inbox" and
"sent" messages were gone. They just disappeared; some were about 2 years
old and I need to find a way to retrieve them, if possible. Also, all of my
contacts are gone; I now have to go in and input each contact individually,
manually. Help!! I am certain that there is a way to retrieve all of this
data, but I don't know how.

Search to include hidden files (explorer) for *.pst, you should find a large
file, possibly named outlook.pst
Then within Outlook, File>Open>Personal Folders......browse to and open this
file.
A second set of Personal Folders will appear in the Folder Tree view pane,
select this folder, expand it, is your data there?
