my inbox seems to have deleted or moved all old emails. where ?

I was keeping all my old messages in inbox for ref purposes. all mails (in
inbox) from before last week seem to removed. Would it have been to full and
deleted all, if so is there a way of retrieving them. All the other folders
were untouched
