retreving .pst files from cd/dvd

i have backed up my personal folders onto both cd & dvd,
however, when i go to access them I am told 'access
denied'. Any ideas as to why and what I can do?

Copy it off the CD to your hard drive. Right click the file on your hard
drive and select properties. Uncheck "Read Only"
