Restricted Sites

I have installed a pop-up blocker and have run Spybot and Ad-Aware but am
still getting the occassional pop-ups from one advertiser. I have read about
using the "Restricted Sites" section of IE6 and I have a question...does the
name of the restricted site I need to type in need to be the site that I am
visiting when the ad pops up OR the site that is doing the advertising? In
other words, if I visit ESPN.com and an ad for Travelocity pops up, do I
enter ESPN.com in the "Restricted Sites" section or do I enter
Travelocity.com? And what if I don't know the exact address of the web site
I want to restrict?

You may want to look into the approach used in the following link. It is a
comprehensive list for the Restricted Zone that is already generated for you.
BTW, the Immunize feature in Spybot S & D will also add to the Restricted Zone
list.

The author has done all the hard work for you. This list can be easily added or
removed without affecting the Trusted Zone list which shares the same registry
key.

IE-SPYAD: Restricted Sites List for Internet Explorer
https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm

At first it appears complex, but in reality all you need are the two REG files.
One installs the list and the other removes the same list from the Restricted
zone. The removal is used prior to installing an updated version of the list.

You should also make sure that your settings for the Restricted sites zone in
Internet Explorer are configured for maximum paranoia (i.e., set everything to
"Disable" or "Prompt").

One bonus add-in that may come in handy is from Microsoft itself and it's called
"Internet Explorer 5 Power Tweaks Web Accessories". This adds, among other
things, two items to your Tools menu, one to Add to Trusted Zone and one to Add
to Restricted Zone. This makes it easy to allow or disallow sites with a simple
mouse click. This add-in works in IE6 also. You will find it here:
