Restoring XP after setting up for Dual Boot

I've got XP Home installed, and I've been updating drivers and re-installing
software for about a week. (clean install, I had too many problems with an
upgrade)

Now I'm to the point that I've decided I really need to set up a dual boot
with my old Win 98 SE. Too many things won't work with the new system, though
I don't use them all the time.

Is there any way that I can:

1: make a backup of my current XP installation.
2: uninstall XP
3: install 98 SE
4: Re-install XP
5: Restore all the programs, drivers, etc from the backup I made in step #1.

I've got plenty of disc space, I've got two physical drives, with at least
one empty partition for XP. I really, really hate the idea of downloading all
those updates again!

Thanks!

As I understand it, that process would leave XP on my C drive, and put 98 on
the other one. If I have to, I'll do that, but I'd prefer to have 98 on the
slower, older C drive, and XP on the faster one.

Sill something like transfer wizard help me keep all the hardware drivers
and program registrations, if I used that?

You could use Norton Ghost to clone your WinXP to the hard drive of
your choice.

I suppose you could clone WinXP to the fast drive. Then install
Win98se to the slow drive. Then I think you would need to do a repair
installation of WinXP to make it aware of the Win98se installation.
(Or maybe all you would need to do is install boot.ini, etc. to your
boot drive.)

Good luck, jimbo
