restoring scsi as a boot option after bios upgrade

I did a flash upgrade of my BIOS, which reset the Boot configuration, and it
no longer has the scsi drive (my only drive) in the list of Boot sources to
choose from. This is an older Dell Dimension with a Maxtor 80G drive
connected to an UltraATA 133PCI controller.

Is there a way to get the BIOS to recognize this scsi drive short of doing a
reinstall of Windows 2000 (where it allows the identification of the scsi
device by using f6).

Once I boot from a CD, of course, the drive is recognized, so the drivers
are still there.

Thanks.

There should be a SCSI setup option in the BIOS when it loads (usually CTRL
+ A with Dell). You can configure the boot from there. I just did that
with an old Dell yesterday.

UltraATA 133PCI controller is NOT SCSI !

That's was my understanding also. But that is the designation that my
previuos BIOS indicated on the boot device list. Should it show up as
something else?

You didn't mention the scsi controller but you'll need to enter controller
bios to choose a boot device.

The SCSI will not be under the BIOS settings. You will have another SCSI
utility that will appear during the boot process. Use that to configure
your drive.

have you had a look at the dell site, they didn't have a
proprietary driver for that model ?
