Restoring outlook express mail

Did a system restore using manafactures restore disk on my Advent 3118. The
restore process did a backup up the system (win xp) and my documents. I was
able to recover all my files in my documents and I now wish to recover some
important emails in the backed up version of outlook.

Is this possible, and how.

Outlook Express messages are stored in DBX files - for example inbox.dbx,
etc. So, search for those files and then browse for the messages you need
using a program like http://www.snapfiles.com/get/dbxviewer.html

Downloaded viewer and was able to access outlook files but they are on the
installed version of outlook. I accessed the backed up version of outlook in
the folder called, My Old Disk Structure, located the outlook express folder
and selected file open on the viewer but to no avail. I tried all options
including the all files option and was unable to locate any DBX files. I did
a search of the computer using inbox DBX in the search field and arrived at a
nil result. I am a bit confused, stupid or maybe both.
