Restoring my OE6 Sent Messages Archive File

M

I have recently carried out a Mcafee Clean of my computer. It deleted
all the sent messages in my Outlook Express 6. It left the inbox
messages OK.

I had backed up all my files to an external hard drive but the OE6
sent files are archived in.dbx format.

When I try to import them into OE6 the program says it does not
recognise .dbx files.

What do I have to do to restore them?

Try importing messages from the store folder, not the dbx, and specifying
the location where the old dbx files are. You need the complete set -
folders.dbx must be there. If it isn't, you *can* do a bit of playing
around with creating a new identity, then swapping in the old sent items
folder, then importing that new identity.

If the full file set is there, you should be very careful about what you
import. Specify only the folders you want.

It would also be prudent to back up first.
