Restoring My Documents folder to desktop

The My Documents folder was deleted from my Desktop
recently. I have tried bringing it back to the Desktop by
creating a shortcut, but every time I reboot, the shortcut
goes away. Does anyone know how to bring back My Documents
permanently?

Double click on the "My Computer" icon
select
Tools
Folder Options
View
tick box in the "Advanced Settings" section
"Show My Documents on the Desktop"
ensure ticked
click Apply>OK
