Restoring the My Documents onto the desktop

Hi everyone,

I accidentally deleted the shortcut for My Documents
off of my desktop. I tried to restore it by making a new
shortcut, but this prevents the "My Documents" shortcut
from showing up as a shortcut when I save files in MS Word
and other applications. I also tried copying the folder
and then pasting it onto the desktop using windows
explorer (this automatically creates a shortcut instead of
copying the actual folder). However, after the desktop is
refreshed, the folder disappears. Any ideas on how to fix
this? Thanks.

Go to the start menu, right click the "My Documents" icon and select "Show
on desktop".

No, this method is only applied to WinXP.

You try to do it:

open C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\

right-click My documents, send to_desktop shortcut

OOPS!
I was skipping back and forth between the 2000 and XP groups.
Your right, that is only for XP.

Hi Ladyako,

Search Windows 2000 Help for the following (with quotes):

"Show My Documents on the Desktop"

Select to display the topic and then follow the steps given, except in step three
instead of clearing the option, click to select it.
