Restoring Desktop Icon to Quick Launch

Guest

I looked down at my Quick Launch tool bar, and my Desktop icon was gone. I am
quite sure I had not deleted it, and I do not have an overflow section. I
rebooted my PC thinking it may have been a quirk and it would return on
reboot. It did not. I did a System Restore to two days earlier when I konw
the Desktop icon was there. Still it did not return. Can anyone tell me how
to reinstate the Desktop icon to the Quick Launch tool bar?

Any help would be appreciated.

In fact this isn't a normal shortcut, it's a textfile with the
name"ShowDesktop.scf" and the contents:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

You can recreate it with Notepad or the like.

4. In the File name box, type the following line (Including quotes) :

An automated way is to run the edit on Kelly's site:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Line 61: Restore/Add Show Desktop to Quick Launch Bar

See the top of the page for info on running the edit.
