Restoring Deleted Files

G

Guest

I am an XP home edition user. The computer boomed out on me when i was working on an important document and I lost the file and subdirectory that I had created in my documnets- strange isnt it? When I searched My computer the subdirectory was actually listed and clicking on it tells me the directory was moved/deleted.

However, there used to be an undelete function in MSDOS prompt which I have used successfully to restore deleted files in the past- but alas, I cant find it in XP now. Is there any way I can restore the lost file and or subdirectory?

Any ideas to (e-mail address removed).

Search and Recover is a powerful arsenal of tools designed to instantly
recover deleted, destroyed, and damaged items from your PC. Such items
include files, folders, songs, pictures, videos, programs, critical system
components, web pages, and even e-mail messages. Search and Recover
works with any drive (hard or floppy of any size and format), and can even
recover deleted photos, songs, and more from digital cameras, MP3 players,
USB flash drives, and other digital devices.

Hi,

There is no undelete function in Windows. You can try a freeware file
recovery program, it may help if the file has not been overwritten or was
not corrupted. The one here works fairly well:
