To re-boot means to restart Windows. Most of us do that at least once every
day.You can't "reboot your hard drive." Do you mean that you reinstalled
Windows on the drive? Why? What virus? Reinstalling Windows because of a
virus is very seldom necessary and is almost always way overkill. It's much
easier to use anti-virus software to get rid of a virus.

Please help us to help you. What does "i am having problems" mean? What
happens when you try? If you get an error message, please quote it verbatim.

For information on how to make a good newsgroup posting, read

Also explain exactly what steps you took to reinstall Windows. Perhaps you
removed all the partitions on the drive when you did so.

Sorry once more. The restore backup programe that comes with xp is not opening up the file, but the information on the backup file appears to be still there because when i right click it and go into properties it is still showing the same amount of bytes that i saved in it,i hope this is more helpful. Thanks Dan

I take it that you are using the Backup Wizard. Thus, what happens when you
execute ntbackup through cmd?

You tell ntbackup the name and path of the file to use for restore.
