Restoring Active Directory help

Hi, I am having trouble restoring AD 2003 in a test
environment for our distaster recovery plan. I have
taken a backup of the system state from our live DC
server, and have then done the following, please let me
know if this is incorrect:

1.) I have built a Win 2003 server which has very similar
hardware to the live DC and the same server name too.

2.) I have created the same partitions as the live DC we
use.

3.) I have run dcpromo and created a domain and forest
with the same DNS name as ours (eg gb.microsoft.local).

4.) I then restarted the server in Directory Service
Restore Mode and restored the system state with all the
default settings.

5.) It restores saying it completed with no errors

6.) Server reboots until the black Win2003 logo bootup
screen with the scrolling gray load bar at the bottom of
the screen then reboots every time towards the end of
this screen.

What have I done wrong as it will continue to reboot!

Thanks for you help in advance

Sounds like you have a driver issue. With 2003 it would have been better to
do the dcpromo from the system state backup.

You are most likely getting a blue screen and rebooting. My guess would be
because of the different hardware you are restoring hte DC to.
Try promoting the DC and then running the dcpromo with IFM (install from
media)
