Doing a bit of research on this error, there appears to be hundreds of
variables involved with this error, depending on what software is installed
on the system. The most common has to do with Norton Live Update. If you
have any Norton software installed, try this. Quoted from another newsgroup
post:

I finally tracked down the problem to the Task Scheduler service causing the
problem. After a little more digging it was the NetDetect Task that caused
the problem - This task is added to the Start->Control Panel->Scheduled
Tasks by enabling Automatic LiveUpdate in Symantec's Norton System Works. I
just deleted the task and now all is back to normal.

After deleting the NetDetect task from the scheduler I went back into Norton
and re-enabled the Automatic LiveUpdate which placed the task back into
scheduler and so far has had not ill effects. The task must have become
corrupt.

To check this, go to Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Scheduled
Tasks.
