Restoring 5 year old computer with restore disks... but wait. Ther

Good morning,.
I searched this newsgroup for answers but didn't find any.

A new computer was gifted to me and I would like to restore my old one and
give it away. It's a 5 year old E-machines with Windows XP Home w/ SP2, and I
took very good care of it and kept it up to date with software, hardware,
etc.. I have the restore disks, etc.
Since I've had the (older) computer, I've upgraded the memory, installed a
dvd combo drive and an ethernet card. Do I need to remove all the new
hardware and software before doing a complete system restore? Is there a way
around all that?
Thank you for any advice!

The system restore disks, will assuming its a destructive restore, set the
PC back to factory state, with no user added programs, or win updates.
If the origonal sys had an ethernet controler you might be wise to remove
your addin card first. The dvd combo should be ok

Thanks for the suggestions. I decided to replace the original cd-rom drive,
remove the ethernet and memory cards.. I then completed the (destructive) sys
restore, replaced the newer hardware and then the updating began!
The computer is like new again after about 6 hrs. of updates, software
reinstallations and some system tweaking and all is a success.
Thank you
