I have Windows XP on my brand new computer. I backed up
my personal files on a zip disk using Windows 98 on my old
computer. How do I restore these backups through Windows
XP? I see there is a restore under system tools on
Windows 2000. I can't find the same thing on XP.

On the zip drive the backup files are all represented by a
Work Icon and when clicked on, open after about five
minutes to 14000 pages of code which is listed five
characters to a line.

This was a WIndows 98 System TOols backup. How do I
restore in Windows XP?

Thanks for your help. I've tried everything I know to do.

Hi!Richard!
Which version of XP do you have? No Backup icon is present on the Start
menu in Windows XP Home Edition, nor is Backup listed in Add Remove
Programs for Windows XP Home edition. No mention of the utility is made
anywhere during the installation, but it is included with Windows XP
Home Edition. It's just necessary to do a manual install to prepare it
for use.

To Manually Install the Backup Utility
Insert the CD Rom and navigate to CD-ROM Drive:\VALUEADD\MSFT\NTBACKUP

Double-click the Ntbackup.msi file to start the wizard that installs Backup

When the wizard is complete, click Finish.

If xp pro then:-
start>all programs>accessories> under system tools

However, even if you install it, it will not restore a backup
made under Windows 98. The formats are incompatible.
