Restore /windows/system32/config/system from Recovery Console

Is there a way to restore
the /windows/system32/config/system file from the Recovery
Console? I'm using XP Professional. There is no system
file on the install disk for me to expand to replace this
file. Windows won't start claiming
that /windows/system32/config/system is corrupt. How could
I fix this file?

This is not just a file, it's a part of the registry and it's
different for every PC.
Did anything unusual happen to your PC during or before your
last good shutdown?
Which chipset / processor do you have?
