restore the CLSID?

C

Cindy

I am trying to clean out a computer infected with spyware
and adware. I mistakenly deleted the
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/CLSID folder. (I was supposed to delete
a key, not the entire folder) Now my computer freezes up
at the Load Personal Settings screen.
I have another computer that is loaded with identical
software - they are the same make and model. When I look
at the CLSID in the identical computer the CLSID has the
files I need to restore. Is it possible to copy the CLSID
folder to the corrupted computer using DOS?
The corrupted computer will boot to a command prompt, but
that's as far as I can go with it.
I do have experience with DOS (my first computer was pre-
Windows) but don't want to do this without advice.
TIA
Cindy

Additional information to add to my previous post.

I read the Registry Help files and using the good computer
I was able to export the CLSID file to a flash memory
drive.

From the corrupted computer, using the command prompt
screen, I was able to get access the Registry using the
regedit.exe file command.

I then imported the CLSID file using the flash memory
drive and it put the CLSID in the proper HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
directory.

It still will not boot up in Windows.

Best to restore the registry from a recent backup or perform an in-place
upgrade.
