Restore partition defrag'

After 3yrs 4.9 Gb Fat32 partition D of my 200 Gb HD is badly fragmented
but there is not sufficient contiguous free space to allow defrag of
some larger files. There is plenty of space on partition C.
Could I temporarily move partion D's contents to NTFS C, defrag then
rewrite to D?

Truthfully....

Moving *everything* off (MOVING) and then moving it back should defrag it
anyway.

Why would you have a 4.9GB partition?
(1) It's just that "System Mechanic" reports partition D is heavily
fragmented, I realize that speed of access is not an issue when restoring.
(2) 4.87 Gb was the OEM XP setting.

Why would you be concerned about defragging a restore
partition? It's not used unless you want to restore your
computer back to its original configuration?

Unless you have an OEM XP installation CD or some sort of
restore media, I'd suggest leaving that partition alone.
