Restore partition D Fat32.

On the 200G HD Restore partition D is Fat32, why? Medion pc set this way
out of the box.

Why not? You shouldn't need to touch the Restore partition until you, er,
restore.....

Are you sure about that? Usually restore partitions are FAT so they will
be 'invisible' to Windows XP, which is the way it should be.

Besides, why aren't you asking Medion?

Yes quite sure, partition "D" Fat 32,partition "C" NTFS. I copied "D"
contents to a new folder on "C", de-fragmented "C", deleted "D" and
copied the now defragmented folder back to "D". Apparently Fat32 and
NTFS formats are compatible provided the files are <4GB.

Most likely was set up that way so that when booting from "wherever"
(restore CD or such) you don't need to load NTFS-drivers to get at the
restore partition....
