Restore or create a new home page in an existing frontpage website

My original home page in a large site has 'disappeared' from navigation view
(along with the rest of the folders) BUT remains with all the folders in
folders view as index.htm. How can I restore the original, or create a new
home page, and re-establish the navigation view of the whole site.

There should not be any folders in Navigation View - the yellow boxes
represent pages.

Does index.htm have an icon resembling a house in the folder list? If
not right click on index.htm and set it to be the Home page. Check
that no other page has this icon first.

Switch to Navigation View
Drag index.htm (home page) into the view from the folder list, then
drag the other pages into the view and position under the home page,
in this way build your navigation structure. You will not be able to
drag any folders into the view :)

The House icon does not appear on any of the pages - have just double
checked. Unfortunately when I right click on the index.htm page, the 'make
page home page' command does not appear(all the others do) - nor does it for
any other page.

Are you editing a server-based web?
If so, check with your host what name(s) are acceptable for the home
page. If index.htm is not in the list rename index.htm to an
acceptable name. Then you should be able to set it as home page.
