Restore not working - Windows XP Home

Need some suggestions on why restore does not work properly,
restore will not work innormal mode, no error stated, but will work in
safe-mode...
any info will be helpful

You will not 'fix' it and still retain the old points. Turn it off, restart,
turn it on, and it will work in the future, but the old points are gone. If
you want the old points, the safe mode kludge is all there is.
