restore deleted file folder

I deleted a file from MY DOCS yesterday afternoon by mistake and cannot find
it to restore it. It was a pretty big file and it was not in my recycle bin.

Can you help me get it back?

Do nothing further on the machine. You can use professional data
recovery software to do this (I use Ontrack Easy Recovery Pro), but it
is quite expensive. There are some free and/or less expensive apps that
may help in this instance. I haven't tried them, but here are some

It's best if you actually put the drive in another computer before
attempting restoration since just swap-disk activity can decimate your
lost file. Here are some freeware undelete tools which should work for

If it so happens you need to restore lost partition Active@ Partition

Hi, would any of these programs work, after using Partition Commander10, I
lost alot of data, when I thought I was creating a recovery disk on cd, but
instead, it over-wrote my second hard-drive, along with all my family photos
and other less important files. I know! I shoud have made a back-up on cd or
flash, but my lazy @#* didn't, and now I hoping to recover something. My
system is a sony vaio and it runs on windows xp, of course.
