Restore archived emails

I was facing the prospect of re-formatting my hard drive and wanted to keep
my archived emails so I could restore them once Outlook 2003 was re-installed.

I found the archive.pst file and copied it to my flash drive.

How do I now restore this archive so that I can open and work with the
archived emails it contains without corrupting my profile? (I have heard
that if I jkust copy/pastr the archive file that it WILL corrupt the profiule
but I don't know if this is true or only applies to import/export of data).

Can anyone help witha step-by-step (for "dummies") method of achieving what
I am trying to do?

What I would do in your case is just copy the archive back to the hard
drive, then open it from Outlook. I don't see the need for copy/paste or
import.
