It looks like I am going to have to reload windows.
I can save my applications to CDROM before I start,
but will they run after I write them back? I know
that some applications have info in the Registry.
I can save the applications, but I do not know if it
is possible to save the registry entries associated
with the applications.
Thanks,
Charles

A "reload" or reinstall of WindowsXP will format your harddrive and
reinstall a new Registry. All previous entries will be deleted. You
can save a copy of your old Registry on a CD but that will not be
feasible for when you install your apps it will create new Registry
points. Also you probably have a lot of old "junk" in the Registry and
that would be wise to get rid of.
