I have installed a second hard drive. Which is now E: Xp pro also is on my
C: drive. I did all the stuff for new install on old used hard drive.. Puter
goes well thru the boot up process until.......... it gets to windows...
there is a long wait from the xp boot screen.. When it is time for windows to
come up . I get an error to the effect of restarting memory dump. It goes by
to fast to catch it all .. fatal blue screen. Then the puter just reboots and
reboots with same error message.
I can access the E: drive from C: I can install programs to the D: drive and
access them .. but that drive just will not boot to windows.. no matter how I
connect it.
I have tried it as slave and as C: Right now it is intalled as Secondary
Primary..

I hope I have given enough info to figure out how to fix this problem...

As Always ,
Thanks in advance..

Your post is not very clear. Start from the beginning. What is the
computer and configuration? Are the drives PATA or SATA, how is the
original drive partitioned? What are the volume labels? Where is XP
installed.

Now you add this second drive. How did you add it? Was is already
partitioned and formatted? What is the purpose in adding this drive?

Once it was physically installed what did you do? What does, "I did all the
stuff for new install on old used hard drive" really mean? Your post
suggests you installed XP on the second drive so XP is installed on both
drives but that part is very unclear. Be specifc here.

Then describe what you are trying to accomplish when the system is booted
where this error appears. Are you trying to boot off the second drive?

Did you install XP pro on the new drive with the older C: drive
connected? Did it completely install but now will only get
to before the xp boot screen and then give you a BSOD. Try doing a
repair install on the E: drive. Disconnect any devices
that you don't need for the install. Check here for more info on a
Repair.

Next time, assign all your non hard drives to "out of the way letters",
like R: for your cdrom reader and W: for your CDrom writer. This way,
when you install new drives it will be easier to manage.
